This was my fourth 5K since I started running last spring. The weather made for a perfect winter race day—chilly at the start, but everyone warmed up within minutes.
I had just met one of our ORC members, Steve, at the Open Meeting the night before. After finishing his race, he doubled back to run with me for my final push, which was an incredible boost of support.
The Valentine’s theme was a fun way to kick off February, and the course—a flat, easy out-and-back—was perfect for a strong run. This was my first 5K where I ran the entire race without any walking intervals, and I set a personal record, beating my previous time by three minutes!
Tuesday Runs in Island Heights have been a huge motivator, keeping me committed to winter training. Looking forward to the next race!
