Meet Up for a Group Run
Group meet running are group runs organized by members, which offer the opportunity to explore new routes and discover scenic locations while enjoying the company of fellow runners. They are throughout Ocean County.
Running with a group provides a sense of accountability and motivation. When you commit to meeting up with a group, you’re more likely to stick to your running routine and stay consistent with your training.
Rail Trail Run Dec. 1
Hey everyone! My family and I are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Beachwood (the one with the upside-down arc). They’re hosting a breakfast on Sunday, December 1, for $10. Conveniently, the rail trail starts just a couple of blocks away! My mom and I thought it’d be fun to organize a group run around 8:45 a.m., then head back to church for breakfast at 10. If you’re interested, please let us know here! This is a non-denominational event, open to everyone! Yes, it's the day after Navesink and the morning of the Toms River Jingle Bell, but maybe [...]

OCVTS Turkey Trot 5K
I got a text from my friend Petra asking if I was interested in running a race on the Barnegat Trail on November 3, 2024. I thought about it for a second and replied, "Hmm, maybe." Then, I realized she meant the very next day—tomorrow, in fact. After a quick pause, I thought about how much we all love running on that trail, and I texted back, "Okay, I'm in!" It turned out to be the Ocean County Foundation for Vocational & Technical Education (OCVTS) Turkey Trot 5K, and let me tell you, I'm so glad I said yes. Not only [...]

EMBRACE THE CHALLENGE
Embracing the Challenge: My Journey with a Pacemaker For some, swimming, biking, and running come easy. For others, it's about working hard at each discipline to reach the finish line. For me, it's a battle every day. Not because of age or athletic ability, but because I have a pacemaker. The Early Days My journey began with the realization that I would need a pacemaker to help my heart function properly. This news was daunting, to say the least. I had always been active, and the thought of my heart not working at full capacity felt like a significant setback. [...]
