My Escape the Cape experience
I'm writing this blog about being a first-timer at the Escape the Cape event, hoping to help anyone who might be on the fence about participating. Saturday Morning As a member of the ORC, there's a strong sense of camaraderie among the triathletes. Everyone is welcoming and eager to help, which I really appreciated. We all met early on Saturday morning for breakfast at Uncle Bill's before heading to the expo for packet pickup. Everyone was chatting about the day and what to expect on Sunday (Race Day). After breakfast, we went to the expo, got our packets, and racked [...]
ETC Yay! Us!
One of my athletic quests has been FILLED! I heard about jumping off the Cape May Ferry quite a few years now and always said " I want to do this" but then again do I? Well today I did, with the help from my amazing friends that I can never Thank enough. First I went on the Cape May Ferry with a big group of Ocean Running Club members doing the same thing, then we jumped - no heart or panic attack, now I am trying to maneuver through the waves I wasn't [...]

What is Functional Training ?
Functional training is a type of exercise that aims to train the body for the activities performed in daily life. This approach emphasizes movements that replicate real-world actions, enhancing overall performance, strength, balance, and coordination. Here are the key aspects of functional training: Movement Patterns: Functional training focuses on fundamental movement patterns such as squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling, rotating, and walking. These movements are integral to everyday tasks like picking up objects, reaching for things, or climbing stairs. Multi-Planar Movements: Unlike traditional exercises that often isolate muscle groups and work in a single plane, functional training involves multi-planar movements. This [...]
Triumph and Tradition
Triumph and Tradition: 11 Years of Conquering the Escape the Cape Triathlon I will be doing the Escape the Cape Triathlon in Cape May, New Jersey, this Sunday June 2 will be my 11 consecutive years now. It’s an amazing experience that starts with a crazy jump off a ferry and ends with a tough run on the sand. This race has become a big part of my life, showing me the power of pushing myself and enjoying the support of a great community. The Thrill of the Jump Every year, the race kicks off with a thrilling jump off [...]
late award
So not everyone that was at the Cinco de Mayo party was available to receive their award in person. This award is given when somebody has opted to skip the training part of getting ready for a race and felt that training is a state of mind and if you're well rested you can absolutely do the race. This award went to Lori Ditzel's husband Who did the Disney 10k On zero training. Ellen S.
