St Pats 5 miler
This past Saturday I ran the Freehold Area Runners club St Paddy’s Day 5 mile run. The race was all in Michael J Tighe park. It was a good mix of road and some light trails. We did loop the course but it was bearable. The weather was great this year, I was going to run this race last year but there was a torrential downpour so I passed. It looks like there were a 176 finishers. I set a modest goal of trying to maintain an 11 min pace for the race. This is the part I was conflicted about I did maintain that pace but after the I noticed my garmin only had 4.8 miles I asked a few other people and they also didn’t have the full 5 miles on their watch. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but when I did their Born to Run race ( 5 miles also ) in the fall everyone also didn’t register 5 miles either. That’s now twice in a row their races have been short. Post race was great there was Hot Dogs, Soup, Bananas,Bagels plus Beer and water. Hopefully they fix the distance problem. Overall this was a good race I really like the mix of road and trails.
