Runner’s Evolution
The beginning, the first mile, the challenge, breathing all wrong, each new attempt was into unchartered territory. Keep at it. Each time making it further. This is what I refer to as the “newbie, rookie or not quite hooked yet”. The trial period, do I love this? Let’s test the waters, sign up for a race and see what this is all about. I see the finish line, thank goodness because I am so done! I did it! So proud I have accomplished my first 5K! There is just one thing! I know I can do better, and so it [...]
Tri season is not quite over
Rudy and Sandy were in Fort Pierce FL to compete in the last triathlon of 2023. Sandy’s morning started off with bad with a tear in her Tri bike front tire. She decided to take her old hybrid bike and make the best of it. After an awesome 1/2 mile swim in the ocean she was completing the first bike loop of this international distance event when she realized the timing chip wasn’t on her ankle! She decided to drop out of the race and took the DNF. Rudy competed in the Duathlon event and and finished 4th in his [...]
Running in the dark
Running in the dark it's your responsibility to stay safe. When wearing a headlamp do not look into the driver's face you only blind them, tip your head down a little it's respectful and they actually can see you better Ellen S.
Heartfelt Thank You
I would like to thank everyone that helped at the Jingle Bells 5k on 12-3-23. The Jingle Bells 5K is not an Ocean Running Club race but we (ORC) have been volunteering for over 10 years. It's been our pleasure to help out on Race day, this year with all registration being paperless and assigning bib numbers on race day, I thought it would be a challenge but the ORC volunteers learned it with gusto! A good handful showed up early to help set up and then all the crew was there to jump in any place they were [...]
Training for a marathon
I ran the Philadelpia Marathon in 2021 and thought I was well prepared. As it turns out, my stomach was not onboard with my plan to finish under 5 hours. This year I challenged myself to once again train and I am doing the Celebration Marathon in Florida in January. I am following a 29 week program that started July 24, 2023 and ends 2 weeks after my marathon. The program is a Jeff Galloway run walk run with my goal to improve my time over my last marathon. I have followed the plan from day 1. The improvement and [...]
