Keep Moving Forward
Have you ever given yourself a challenge—just to see if you could do it? Not for a medal, not for applause, just because you had the determination to see it through? Well, our 2025 Pine Beach 5K race director, Mindy D’Addario, did exactly that this September. She decided she would get on her bike every single day of the month—and not just for a spin. Her goal was to ride the same number of miles as the calendar date. So, September 1st? Just 1 mile. September 15th? That meant 15 miles. And on the final day, September 30th—she capped [...]
Tuesday Running
The Tuesday Night Group Run drew a fantastic crowd of more than 20 ORC members! We gathered at The Sawmill in Seaside Heights, the very spot that will serve as the host location for our upcoming Seaside Half Marathon and 5K next month. Under sunny skies and with a refreshing ocean breeze at our backs, we enjoyed a scenic 3-mile run along the shore. The evening wrapped up with The Sawmill’s famous oversized pizza slices, cold drinks, and plenty of lively conversation. It was the perfect way to welcome fall, connect with friends, and build excitement for the great events [...]
Tri-ing My Best
A recap of my First Sprint Triathlon When my alarm sounded at 4:50am- I immediately had the thought “what have I gotten myself into?” But the car was already packed, my clothes were set out, and my transition bag was ready to go. The drive down to LBI was dark and a bit windy but shortly after arriving and unloading my bike we got to witness a beautiful sunrise. The wind calmed, the water was calm, and the temperature was just right; it was the perfect day for a Tri. And the DQ Long Beach Island Sprint Triathlon was the [...]
Race Recap – Semper 5K, Seaside Heights
This was my first time running the Semper 5K, one of the larger 5Ks at the Jersey Shore with close to 1,000 starters. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions—low humidity, comfortable temps, and no real heat to contend with. The course was great. We started with about a half-mile stretch down the boardwalk before turning around and heading south into Seaside Park. After a quick block on the street near D Street, the course brought us back onto the boardwalk for the final push north to the finish line near The Beachcomber. What stood out most was the atmosphere. [...]
Weekend Wrap up
Wrap It Up Not every swim, bike ride or run is perfect—and that’s part of the game. Some days are fast, some days are slow, and some days the only victory is that you showed up. But around here in ORC, we know that failure isn’t the bad days. Failure is quitting. And quitting? That’s not in the Ocean Running Club playbook. This week, our Tuesday Night Run Group was out there as usual, logging those steady miles and catching up along the way. On Thursday night, the guys crew hit the boards again—nothing fancy, just friends putting in the work [...]
Belmar 5
What a day in Belmar! Over 2,700 runners hit the streets, and let me tell you—cool race-day temps had everyone smiling. ORC members were already in action before sunrise, manning volunteer tables as early as 6AM. Coffee in hand, checking in runners, handing out bibs—you name it, we were on it. But we don’t just work these races—we run them too! After a quick shirt swap, our crew made their way to the start line. Robin Gialanella crushed it, snagging 3rd in the Masters Division, and Sandy Rinderer took home 1st in her age group (way to go, Sandy!). Out [...]
