Welcome to The Ocean Running Club
The Ocean Running Club offers three key benefits for running enthusiasts. Firstly, it provides a supportive and inclusive community of fellow runners, fostering friendships and a sense of belonging. Secondly, the club organizes group runs and training sessions, allowing members to run alongside others, explore new routes, and benefit from the motivation and camaraderie of running in a group. Lastly, being part of the club grants access to races, events, and workshops, offering opportunities for personal growth, goal-setting, and learning from experienced runners. Overall, joining the Ocean Running Club enhances your running experience through community support, group running opportunities, and access to events and resources.

Pine Beach 5K
2025 is HERE! Isn't this the year that our English textbooks wrote about us being taught by robots and we would be flying in the sky to get to everyday places? Well, actually it is happening (AI and drones) so I guess it's not that far-fetched. Anyway, we are still running on two legs whether you use Vivobarefoot, your favorite Saucony, Brooks, Asics, etc. or have entered into the, here to stay, Vaporfly category. The list of races, old and new, is endless and maybe you are looking for new ones or once again registering for the race(s) [...]
Twas the night before running
Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The sneakers were hung by the doorway with care, In hopes that a morning run soon would be there. The runners were nestled all snug in their beds, While dreams of PRs danced in their heads. With a tech shirt on and a foam roller near, They prepared for the miles of the coming new year. When out on the street, there arose such a clatter, They sprang from their beds to see what was the matter. Away to the window, [...]
ORC Takes on the JSRC Train Run!
This past Sunday, a group of Ocean Running Club (ORC) members laced up their shoes and joined the Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC) for the annual Train Run. The adventure began at Johnny Mac's House of Spirits in Asbury Park, where participants gathered for check-in before heading to the Asbury Park Train Station to catch the 10:45 AM southbound train. The event offers three fun, untimed distance options: 2 miles, 4 miles, and 6.5 miles. Despite the train running a few minutes behind schedule (luckily, no one was rushing to work!), spirits were high as we boarded and settled in [...]
MSDA 5K Reindeer Run
Race #1 of the weekend is in the books! Today, I took on the MSDA 5K Reindeer Run in Caldwell, NJ—the first race since my marathon, and I’m happy to report all systems were good. The course was a tough one, with the first two miles being uphill, but it was no match for some incredible performances. Courtney Decker dominated those hills, finishing 14th overall and taking 2nd Female. Davies, representing the Bellas/Fellas and Toms River, powered through to finish 6th overall. I wasn’t far behind, crossing the line 19th overall and earning 1st place in the 50-59 age group. [...]
Jingle Bell Run 2024
With crisp clean air, blue skies and so many smiling faces this year's Jingle Bell run downtown Toms River was a huge success. Sometimes I'm a participant sometimes I'm a spectator I always love volunteering and this year did not disappoint. Of course my favorite part is always the Kiddy Dash with the help of Elf Lori Ditzel and the kids from TEAM lots of kids got to run into Santa's arms. With one trip and fall and a get up and finish by one of our 4-year-olds, I love the resilience, I think he kind of bounced back up [...]
